Season the meat liberally with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, and brown on all sides in the pan.<\/li><li>Remove the meat from the pan and place in the slow cooker.<\/li><li>Turn heat down to medium-high and add onion, with a bit more oil if needed. Cook for two minutes while stirring, then add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.<\/li><li>Add wine and bring to a bubble. Let simmer for 3-4 minutes, then add beef stock, thyme, tomato paste, sugar, bay leaves, and Worcestershire sauce.<\/li><li>Stir together and bring to a simmer, then transfer to the crockpot.
